First Get Yourself Together, the Rest Comes Natural

Of course, we can never go back to what many of us call the good old days. I remember talking to my cousin back when I was only about 10 or 11 years old. This was back in the late 50s he told me “you know the times are getting worst all the time" what he actually meant was we were leaving an era when life was simple, and what he considered to be bad was all the modern technology coming into existence at that particular time.
Back in the early 60s conformity was a powerful force, which made a lot of people prisoners of their false identity. Of course, this is true of human nature in any part of the world, all through the history of humankind. I may be getting a little philosophical here; however, this is the only way I can get my honest view of family life out, in our so-called real world.
As a baby boomer, the generation introduced to television this is where most of us got our real and true education. The entertainment we got from television was more than entertainment but an education. The stars of yesterday were our professors. Concealed in these stars were the true characters of real people in all lifestyles. This is how we were able to become our own doctors of psychology.
The hippies, yippees, war protestors, peace activists, all the radical groups of the 60s were part of a movement bringing into reality the dream of all those young and old, The dream of peace, love, and unity.
Today the family is so different from the families of the past. Today with our modern technology, the world is a lot smaller than it used to be. A person who has an interest in some particular field does not have to go to the library to find a book on the subject, with personal computers we have access to the world at our fingertips.
One thing that never will change is the power of love; this emotion is not a learned emotion. By talking to your family about what you feel about any topic is where it all begins. Even if they disagree with your beliefs, they do love you and you do love them this common bond of love is what keeps a family together.
It must be able to work in the family before it can work anywhere in the world. However if you look at the young people today you’ll find they are no different from any other previous generation. The world has changed not the heart, soul, and spirit, of the young. Only a different way of expressing themselves and their ideas to the world.
Talk to your children; let them teach you a thing or two. You’ll be surprised at what you can learn from your children. How many times have we heard the expression “Out of the mouths of babes"
They’re never too young to explain life as they see it, which may leave you to marvel at a new outlook on life.
"To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right." Confucius
