“There is as yet no civilized society, but only a society in the process of becoming civilized. There is yet no civilized nation, but only nations in the process of becoming civilized. From this standpoint, we can now speak of a collective task of humankind. The task of humanity is to build a genuine civilization.” Felix Adler
We are now living in the 3rd. Century of our existence as a free people. Although we have advanced through the ages, we continue to cultivate our lives and progress with time as our teacher and guide.
Here in the 21st. Century we are on the verge of developing into a new and refined people. In our human development, we are more aware of ourselves as a human being than we were in previous generations.
For in the past we were living more like animals of a sort. Although the human mind has always been superior to animal life in our nature, however we shared natural characteristics with animals.
Animals do not evolve in their nature for a dog living in this time and age may live in a completely different surrounding than a dog living 100 years ago however, they do not become more refined or knowledgeable in their nature as we humans do.
Yes the human being is born not only in a biological sense however we as human beings were born with a soul this is how we differ from animal life. Our soul guides us in our moral state of existence.
As we become more refined in our natural state of being than so our soul will guide us into our spiritual well-being, for our soul cries out for freedom a freedom that is only found in peace from within. In addition, peace from within comes from a love for our fellow man.
“We the people” are the first three words to the preamble of our constitution. As we reflect on our lives as a united people living our lives as a free people, we find ourselves in search for an explanation of true freedom.
That explanation will come in time as we live from day to day, an explanation that will open our eyes to a new realization of being human.

Good article.
I do think that we Americans fancy ourselves as way more refined and developed than we actually are.
