David Tanguay

A Tribute to the King (Poem)

Posted: Friday, January 13, 2012

by David Tanguay

His mission was to achieve freedom - for his people

The bells rang loud - from the church top steeple

He did not want to be judged - by the color of his skin

But rather by his heart - which cried out from within

The black people were special to the Lord up above

For he blessed them - with an abundant of love

A dream he held on to - all of his life and beyond

He wanted his white brother - to see and respond

Martin Luther King Jr.- was this man’s name

He opened the eyes of many - as he made his claim

As he was laid to rest - at the end of his life

Leaving behind four children - and a wife

His dream still lives - for one and all of us

Our Lord resides - in him we can trust

Free at last free at last - yes freedom is at hand

We are on the verge of entering into- the promised land

A land of equality - for everyone whom breathes free

For we as human beings - all originate from our family tree

“Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

hi david,

this was an excellent poem, in my opinion. it flowed well, and got the point across.

when one person believes he is better than another, no good will come of it.

thanks for sharing,

my best,

sue

I grew up in a completely Democrat Family (natural meaning that I think), but facts are facts, and I think all that MLK did for equality deserves a Tribute, but so do those who helped him achieve it. MLK was a registered Republican. I am now an Independent, and anyone who moves us in the right direction gets my vote.

Your poem was great.

I found this History Test on the website of the Black Republicans, while looking for historical facts on MLK.

I always believed the republican party was mostly for the rich and the democrats for the ordinary people. I suppose there are good and bad in any field we choose to belong to.

The media conditions us to believe what they want us to believe, and without our own research...we believe it to be true. I get more truth from online newspapers outside of the USA, than I do inside.

There are some things that changed in education as far back as 1917, that most people do not know, without research, when the McGuffey Readers were removed from public schools, and Columbia Univ took over the writing and distribution of our school books.

"Didn't Kruschev say in one of his speeches "We will take America without firing a shot"?? 1948 or 1950? He meant media and education, but education had to come first, to prepare those going into the media.

Yes," there are good and bad in any field we choose to belong to." That is a fact. If you look at a clock and 6pm is 'centrist', then either far left until 12 O'clock or far right until 12 Oclock, you have the same thing, insanity.

Have a great day today.
