Peace is not Personal but Universal

“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” Jiddu Krishnamurti

Those of us who have no problem adjusting to society as it is are indeed sick ourselves. For we as a people living in society must be mentally ill to adjust to a society deranged as it is. However, the world has changed in the past few decades. Changed for the better for we are healing from our mental state of despair.

We are beginning to awaken to the realities of life for life in general is far more bearable today than it was in the days of yesterday. The evil that lurked about us in the past no longer exist.

There is still a lot of turmoil in our lives however we are more at peace with ourselves today than we ever were throughout our history as a civilized people. Although some people find peace of mind through meditation and other forms of psychic therapy this method of therapy is personal and only involves our personal lives.

Finding peace of mind as an individual i.e., trying to find peace within our own lives rather than finding peace throughout all of humankind. For peace begins with a mutual understanding amongst us.

Our environmental atmosphere when peaceful can bring a sense of comfort and peace in our lives. One person cannot find peace personally for it involves peace with others as well. If we have peace on earth then we have peace within.

It all begins with us as human beings to rise up above our natural instincts and develop a peace with our fellow man. A peace that comes with love and understanding among us as the human race all people living together as one.

I believe that to meet the challenges of our times, human beings will have to develop a greater sense of universal responsibility. Each of us must learn to work not just for oneself, one's own family or nation, but for the benefit of all humankind. Universal responsibility is the key to human survival. It is the best foundation for world peace.” Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama

I believe the same way as you do but unfortunately our world or should I say this country believes in perfection as far as dealing with our fellow human beings! Anyone who doesn't fit that profile seems to struggle living in a society that frowns upon anyone who is struggling with phyical issues, mental issues or any other condition that doesn't fit the set profile of what is acceptible in their eyes. Hopefully one day society will begin to be more understanding and accept people for who they are!

Thank you for commenting Iris, I've seen many mental patients who live outside of the establishment. Although diagnosed as being mentally ill they believe they are sound in mind and spirit. Perhaps someday we will come to an understanding amongst ourselves.
