“Hope is what led a band of colonists to rise up against an empire; what led the greatest of generations to free a continent and heal a nation; what led young women and young men to sit at lunch counters and brave fire hoses and march through Selma and Montgomery for freedom's cause. Hope is what led me here today -- with a father from Kenya, a mother from Kansas; and a story that could only happen in the United States of America. Hope is the bedrock of this nation; the belief that our destiny will not be written for us, but by us; by all those men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is; who have courage to remake the world as it should be.” [January 3, 2008] Barack Obama
However, we still have many roads and paths to walk and clear the way for future generations. For we must not accept things as they are but rather see things as they should be and work towards reaching these goals.
We must broaden our educational curriculum to include and put an emphasis on moral conduct and ethical behavior within our system of rules and laws to live by. Yes, we must bring into focus the necessity of having humane characteristics within us as a free and united people.
Respect for human life is essential in today’s world we must not let apathy for life rule our lives. We are living in a new millennium let the violence and hatred of the 20th. century be a lesson to us and let us move forward here in the 21st. century with peace and love in our hearts and souls.
As a united people, we can rise above repression and live our lives as intended by our God. Let freedom ring from all four corners of the world. Evil lurks in our lives however; it is superficial in today’s world. i.e., evil has no foundation in today’s world for the devil no longer exist.
Hope for a better tomorrow is at hand let us welcome tomorrow with open arms and a heart filled with love.
