Happiness in our Lives

[Peace] is the highest and most strenuous act of the soul, but an entirely harmonious act, in which all our powers and affections are blending in a beautiful proportion, and sustain and perfect one another. It is more than the silence after storms. It is as the concord of all melodious sounds ... an alliance of love with all beings, a sympathy with all that is pure and happy, a surrender of every separate will and interest, a participation of the spirit and life of the universe.... This is peace, and the true happiness of [humanity] William Ellery Channing

Since the beginning of time, we as the human race have been constantly searching for happiness and peace. In our declaration of independence, inscribed are the words we are in pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.

When we are at peace with our neighbor then happiness resides and comforts our souls… For love between our fellow man brings about happiness to the heart and spirit.

Wars fought and thousands of lives lost in battle for a cause so nobly inscribed on their lives, a cause with the goal of peace being the outcome of all wars. Peace with our foe so indirectly pursued for war cannot go on endlessly a peaceful outcome is at hand.

Why can we not find a way through peaceful means to negotiate with our foe before resorting to battle? Yes peace, love before war, and hate diplomacy on our part to convene with those who see things differently than we do.

Peace on earth echoed throughout the world for ages when will we make peace on earth a reality. There is competition between nations we must find common ground between us. We all as human beings share our lives with one another.

It is for us the human race to come together and live in peace with one another to do away with war finally. Peace on earth and goodwill toward men should be on everyone’s agenda. Global peace is the goal of all of humanity.

Happiness cannot flourish in a war torn country for violence begets violence and war corrupts the soul.

Happiness comes when your work and words are of benefit to yourself and others.” Buddha

While there is Profit to be gained from Wars, unfortunately Peace will remain in the back seat - Most notably the Oil Rich country of Libya - while money can be made from these wars they will last only as long as the value of these Riches do.

Excellent article David. Thank you for sharing.

David, I love this quote in your article: “Happiness comes when your work and words are of benefit to yourself and others." I am grateful that I realized early on that happiness is an 'inside job' that has very little to do with circumstances. Much food for thought here.
