Be Good Regardless

“If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.” Albert Einstein
I have nothing against people who go to church every Sunday to worship God. However if our actions during the course of a day whether good or bad are derived from fearing the wrath of God or the promise of an everlasting life after death then yes indeed we are a sorry lot.
We have an abundant amount of rules and laws we live by here in America. However, we do not need a written word from our law books or from the bible to inform us how to act out or live our lives.
To follow our heart and let our conscience guide us through life is the appropriate way to live our lives. If we have love than we have, it made.
A friend is someone we can confide in it is our duty as the human family of man to come together as one and share our world with one another. Yes to follow the beat of our own drum to do our own thing is where happiness appears.
No matter how old we are there is still a lot of living to do there is still a lot of mysteries not yet discovered. Therefore, life will always be a journey through the unknown. We must embark on our mission to discover the meaning of life.
“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. I am not afraid.” Marcus Aurelius

This article raises numerous questions, David. Although, I agree with you in principle that one should attempt not to harm others and to live a healthy and productive life. It is also common for nearly every action we take as humans to be harmful to someone else, in some way. I guess its just a matter of interpretation. Nice article and postive thoughts.
