“Life is short, but there is always time enough for courtesy.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
To be courteous to those we encounter everyday i.e., to show kindness and respect to our fellow man. To be polite in our everyday encounters with those we may call our friends or with total strangers courtesy should play an important role in our lives.
Yes, common courtesy is relevant in our daily lives it’s how we separate ourselves from barbarians, for to show courtesy is to show love. Therefore being polite should be on everyone’s agenda through the course of a day.
“In the midst of global crises such as pollution, wars and famine, kindness may be too easily dismissed as a "soft" issue, or a luxury to be addressed after the urgent problems are solved.
But kindness is the greatest need in all those areas -- kindness toward the environment, toward other nations, toward the needs of people who are suffering. Until we reflect basic kindness in everything we do, our political gestures will be fleeting and fragile.
Simple kindness may be the most vital key to the riddle of how human beings can live with each other in peace, and care properly for this planet we all share.” Bo Lozoff
As we extend our hand in friendship and clasps firmly onto the outstretched hand reaching, for ours then we should reveal a smile utter a greeting and acknowledge our friend in such a way.
Courtesy should engulf our lives for through courtesy we show discipline in our lives for those we share our world with at home and abroad.
“Politeness is the art of choosing among your thoughts.” Madame de Stael

I agree, but if one develops a firm spiritual basis to his life the courtesy is a natural result of seeing the Light in all men. I'm not sure being polite, forcing it sometimes, will result in the inner growth that will lead to better human relations. Please log in to respond to this comment. No I also don't believe in forcing courtesy on someone it wouldn't be real if it was forced. Please log in to respond to this comment.
