I’d Walk a Mile For a Camel

As the old cigarette commercial goes “I’d walk a mile for a camel” so were many of the pleasures we enjoyed as children that were certainly worth the walk of a mile, like walking to our favorite swimming hole down the river.
Yes on a nice sunny summer day, we would pack a lunch and head down to the river where we would enjoy swimming all day long; it was definitely worth the walk of a mile.
I haven’t smoked a cigarette for almost ten years now. I use to be a heavy smoker and back in those days, I would definitely walk a mile for a cigarette.
We as the human race do not walk all that much today we rely on automobiles to get us to places we want to go. However, I would still walk a mile to visit a friend if I had to.
Walking is not only good physical exercise it is also good mental therapy. For as we walk many thoughts go through our minds, we are able to sort out these thoughts quite easily as we walk. So walk a mile not only for your physical health but also for your mental stability.

Hi David loved the article. I remember too as a kid that distance was never a problem as long as where you were headed is where you wanted to be. Every Sunday morning we would walk to "Stonehenge" just to sit on rocks, and if my my memory don't fail me it was well more than a mile.
Keep well David

Dave, sadly I probably would still walk a mile for a smoke. I would most likely die on the way from lack of exercise! I sit in an office for nine hours a day six days a week. I get to walk to the train for 5 mins there and back. I am a prime example of why major illnesses like cancer, diabetes and heart disease are rising at an alarming rate. The economy doesn't help either, we are buying cheaper food which is known to cause half the problems. Would I still walk a mile for that smoke? grrrr yes! How bad is that! So ashamed. Please log in to respond to this comment.I know how you fell Jill, I smoked for 40 years I never thought I'd ever quit. But I went cold turkey and made it free. I don't get the urge for cigarettes anymore. thanks for commenting. Please log in to respond to this comment.
