Pride and Love for my Country

When I look back at the history of our country how we came together after rebelling against the king of England. It brings a hard to explain feeling of pride through my body. How we as a nation came together and established a foundation to live by.

Through the years, our constitution has granted us as individuals the freedoms and rights as citizens to adhere to. We as American citizens have the freedom to do anything we want in life providing we live by the law of the land.

For over two centuries, many have died on the battlefield defending these rights we as Americans take for granted. Let us remember our fallen comrades who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

When I was in the Marine Corps in the 60’s when we would stand at attention before our flag looking up at the flag waving in the breeze would send a cold chill down my back. Yes, even our flag has a story behind her stars and stripes.

From the father of our country George Washington who helped to establish our country to Abraham Lincoln who was responsible for freeing our fellow man, we take great pride in our political leaders past and present.

Today our country is in need of many alterations for although we are committed to live by our constitution we must change with the times. In today’s world, we have many problems here and abroad to deal with.

Providing we move forward with the Lord to guide us, we will be successful in our quest to make things better. Perhaps it is time for we as a people to unite the rest of the world, to bring freedom to all inhabitants of the world.

Yes, we the people account for the entire human race created equal let us unite as a united people throughout the world. To bring peace and love to the world is and has been the dream of all of us through the history of humanity.

“My Country! When right keep it right; when wrong, set it right!” Carl Schurz

I agree with you David. Your sentiments are felt deeply. Its particularly touching to read your Vietnam feelings. We always need improvement in America! The amazing thing about America is that there is a great chance that the changes we desire can actually be accomplished. Great article.

Dear David,

As usual, your articles are articulate and right on the mark! As a soldier who served in Vietnam, you totally understand the concept of country and devotion to it and it is sad that so many of our liberties have been taken for granted and that there are those who will manipulate the laws for their own personal gain. I never thought it would come to a point where the rich continue to stay rich and our middle income family is approaching poverty level because of their greed and dodging their responsibilites of paying their fair share of taxes. When you see some many homeless people in our own country because of the present economic situation, it makes you realize that charity should begin at home and we should concentrate on helping ourselves before we are so willing to help others outside of this country.

Thank you for commenting Iris, very true many of us do not appreciate what we have. We must all work together if we want to get ourselves out of this mess we are in.
