One of the reasons I believe

I do not believe God has established rules or laws for us to live by. I believe God created us with an inborn love. If we would live by utilizing the core of our nature, allowing our heart and soul to guide and control our every emotion, we could justify our own actions.

I don’t need a quotation from the bible informing me if I should steal or kill, I will face punishment for my actions. Nor do I need man’s law to threaten punishment for breaking his laws.

"If all the good one does is from fear of punishment, or promise of reward, where does love fit in?"

“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who said it, no mater if I said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and common sense." Buddha

I do not need a decision from a supreme court justice, informing me murder can be justified, by calling it a right to choose. On the other hand, an act of congress declaring murder can also be justified by calling it war.

If we as the human race would live with peace and honesty amongst ourselves there would be no need for a belief in God. He would simply be an accepted fact of existence.

"Why do so many of us seek out and persecute others for their actions by using scripture or constituted law? For God’s law is not on paper it is within us."

“LOVE!" - is “one" of the many reasons, WHY? I believe in God

Very eloquently stated, David and very moving. (I think) It really is simple and maybe so simple that so many just 'don't get it'. Jesus wasn't complicated, but we, as human beings, are. Jesus was love. Having been raised Catholic, I really can't quote scriptures (Baltimore Catichism?) but I never take God for granted and am always grateful and just 'know' -- One thing is this, David, I believe with all of my heart, that if Jesus Christ was walking the earth as He had over 2000 years ago history would absolutely repeat itself regardless of how 'educated the human race has become' and I believe it would be His own that would instigate His crucification for the second time. It's all about love, compassion, understanding and all the fruits of the Spirit. I don't think knowing scriptures by heart is going to get you an 'a' with a direct route to heaven, no, I don't think so -- I enjoy your spirit and your passion -- keep writing, Mr. Tanguay! ...and thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to read my article Judi. I too was raised catholic I strayed away from the church and even from God at one time in my life. however I believe I was closer to God when I disbelieved than when I did. I disagree with what you say about history repeating itself if Jesus returned. I don't want to go into detail about why I believe as I do, perhaps sometime if you'd like to hear I'll explain why I believe as I do.

Yes, I would be interested in why you don't think we would re-crucify Jesus -- life is one heck of a journey, don't you think? Thanks again for your work, it's inspiring.
