The Lion shall lay down by the Lamb

“Jaw jaw is better than war war.” Winston Churchill

Yes to avoid war we must communicate with one another. Let us use diplomacy to find common grounds between those who see things differently than us. For we are all human and share the same biological make up.

Why can we not get along with one another? Of course, the message I relay here is not any different from messages shouted out all through the history of humankind. Why must we keep going to war to settle our differences? For war never accomplishes anything constructively.

I served in Vietnam in the 60s I was only 19 years old at the time war didn’t make any sense to me then and it still doesn’t make any sense in today’s world. We lost close to 60,000 good men over there surely we didn’t convert the South Vietnamese people to see things our way they are living quite well today under a communistic state.

There isn’t a government living under true communism anywhere in the world. Jesus preached of communism when he made his sermons. He preached of love between our neighbor, giving and sharing our wealth with the unfortunate living in the hopeless, hungry part of town.

Yes, what is so difficult in loving our fellow man? I hope to see war end in all parts of the world in my lifetime. I can feel in in my soul that peace will prevail soon in all parts of our planet.

A spiritual song (peace in the valley) sung by Johnny Cash that I really enjoy listening to goes like this. “And the lion shall lay down by the lamb Oh yes, and the beast from the wild will be led by a child and I’ll be changed, changed from this creature that I am.”

Let’s forget about the hate and the killing and think about the love and the living. It all depends on us as the human family to unite in goodwill throughout the land. We must let love fill our hearts and do away with violence once and for all.

“The greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being.” Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lamat

My inner cynic doesn't buy it. I hope you're right though.

Thanks for writing about what is a realistic goal. It is something that people are trying to avoid in fairly good numbers. Those who can plunge the world into war we need to pray, will be prevented. Needed article.
