Come Together as a United People

Japan has just suffered damages from earthquakes and a tsunami. The mid west here in the US has just endured devastation from tornadoes and floods.

We live on a very small planet with all of these natural disasters going on all around us how do we even think about war with one another. We just did away with Osama Bin Laden supposedly the leader of al-Qaida.

Why could we not have succeeded in coming to terms with him rather than killing him the way we did? Why did we not consider diplomacy? He might have been an evil man however; he was human and had the same biological make up as we do.

We as the human race have come far in our quest to live together as a family of man. We have been engaged in wars all through the history of civilization. We have evolved from an aggressive lifestyle to a more sophisticated being.

Rather than finding new ways of making bombs to kill our foe why not find new ways in getting along with those who see things differently than we do. As our declaration of independence reads

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”



We must bring freedom to all parts of the world and not confine it to our nation alone. However, we must, as Americans know what freedom really is. For freedom is more than just doing as we please but also working in pursuit to the well being of our neighbor.

For freedom is carrying a piece of responsibility yes being responsible for the well being of our neighbor is not only the law of the land but also the law of our Lord.

We must stop spending money on war and turn our assignment and means on the betterment of society. Our infrastructure for example needs our attention building not destroying, finding new ways of living peacefully with our fellow man.

Dave Tanguay was born on November 8,1948 in Westbrook, Maine. The 10th. child of a family of eleven children. Served in Vietnam in the 60s, he became active with the youth movement of that day on completion of military duty. Now retired and living in Florida. (still believes in the young)
