The Man who Sought Freedom (Poem)

Martin Luther King Jr. was his name
Upon this land he staked his claim
He would not accept being second class
For this was his land - he knew this at last
I have a dream he shouted throughout the land
Gunned down - in the prime of his life
Leaving behind - four children and a wife
No ordinary person was he who sought equality
His people deserved a better life - with an amount of quality
Freedom rings for all of us - regardless of race
Free at last free at last - he cried out with such grace
His dream lives - in all who breath free
For we are all branches - of the same family tree
We are a nation - instilled with rules to live by
Bringing about freedom- for this I would die
“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.” Martin Luther King Jr.
