Do Your Little Bit of Good

"Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." Bishop Desmond Tutu

As we go through life, we encounter several obstacles along the way that we meet with a challenge. For we do not live in a perfect world there is much strife we must tackle and deal with as we live from day to day. How we deal with these problems, determine how we are successful in the art of living from one day to another.

"Each time a person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, these ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance." Robert F. Kennedy

We must meet one another with courage and conviction for we must see through the barriers, which separate us on the issues of the day. i.e. how we live with each other on a daily basis. We are all human and so we must act accordingly by the laws of nature and nurture i.e. our humane traits we were born with which lead us down the proper pathway of life.

Counting our blessings for we are far more fortunate than many people living in third world countries are. Living to make the world a better place to live in should be our primary goal in life. For the world belongs to all of us it is our home we must treat it along with all of its inhabitants with respect and love.

We do still live in perilous times with wars still claiming the lives of many of our young men and women serving overseas. Our country alone can be a dangerous place to be if we step out of the security, it provides.

We are far from living by the golden rule for in today's world everyone seems to be out for themselves. Of course, if we had an option to choose from perhaps we would show a little kindness and consideration. Psychiatrists only explain the exterior not the interior for what is in the hearts of men and women are hard to see with the human eye or textbook analysis.

As so many of us seek new avenues to find the cure for human suffering in this world the Beatles made it quite clear with a song titled "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE !" Yes! All we surely need is love.

I recently wrote an article about the classic film Harvey... it is directly related to the points you make. I agree and hope that one day we will care more about others than just being in it for ourselves. Great article David!

It would be nice if we would live in peace and with love. Too bad men have been ingrained to look out for #1 instead.

Good points, David. It seems it's just too easy to forget the impact small acts of kindness can have.

A wonderful thought portrait of hugely powerful sentiments. There is nothing more potent than these kinds of thoughts. The RFK quote is particularly good. Keep on and churn out the same good work that you have done here.

Very true....it doesn't take much to make someone feel a little better about themselves..it costs nothing to kind...self-reflection is free, 15 mins of our time to do something for someone else is free.

I think that human suffering will continue, it's just how one handles it is the bigger question. For some it is unfortunate that they are born into a world where riches are so obtainable.
