A Government of the People (Poem)

A government of the people - united she stands
Brought together by men - who made demands
To live free and choose - the life they live
To pursue their dreams - and of themselves to give
America is known as the land - where dreams come true
Through hard work they are born - to those who pursue
Evil does lurk - within her established borders
We must beware - of some who give orders
From her courtrooms - where her laws are written
As we broke away - from the rule of Great Brittan
Her laws are established - to protect and serve the people
The bells ring loud and clear - from the church top steeple
She has her flaws - for no government is perfect
But to live by her rules - we find respect
Those of us whom seek to change - through reform
We do not always see the bad - for we choose to conform
When we the people stand - for we the people as a whole
We will devote our time- working from heart and soul
America! - America! my country - I love thee so
Within your land - my life I will bestow
