The Evil of Capitalism

"The crippling of individuals I consider the worst evil of capitalism. Our whole educational system suffers from this evil. An exaggerated competitive attitude is inculcated into the student, who is trained to worship acquisitive success as a preparation for his future career." Albert Einstein
Education is an important part of our lives for it determines how we will relate and interact with citizens in our society. In addition, how we go about earning a living. Although our educational system is very flexible, it provides the student (s) with assorted beliefs in other forms of governments and the way other countries live.
Our way of living under a capitalistic society has served us well in the past for our nation was young and filled with challenges galore. However as we evolved into a more refined species of human beings our way of life is questioned by those who see the evil in capitalism.
Most capitalist run their business like a king runs his country. Hypothetically speaking they have employees working for them, which we can look upon as "citizens", and they compete with other businesses, which we can look upon as "countries". In the game of life, they find living this lifestyle exciting and in the pursuit of money, power and wealth.
Actually, these capitalist have his or her own government a monarchy so to speak. We Americans fought a revolution to break away from British rule (a monarchial form of government) only to have our freedoms lead us to an abstract hierarchy all beginning with the corporate elite down to the junior executives to salespeople and to the ordinary worker.
I love my country and the people it represents and for the values and traditions, it has prolonged throughout the years. We as Americans were born and nurtured all through our lives in believing in freedom and equality. To respect our fellow man regardless of what race, creed, or nationality he/she represents. Many have died on the battlefield fighting for these freedoms we hold so dear to us.
However, as we the people have evolved from an aggressive species of life to a more refined individual, although we hold the same beliefs as previous generations the jungle atmosphere we have lived under through the years has vanished.
We are more aware of ourselves as a humane being rather than living the life of an animalistic creature, which we have in the past.
" When I approach a child, he inspires in me two sentiments; tenderness for what he is, and respect for what he may become." Louis Pasteur

More commentsInteresting post David. The capitalistic way of life that made this country strong is vanishing quickly. Number one being free enterprise. Which many in younger generations fail to see which is taking place before their very eyes. If they would open them long enough they might see it.This is why they will never come to the realization that the "Elite", ...the "Big Boys", own and run everything. From big corporations to every government around the world. It is easier to ignore and continue believing that they live in the country of Big Brother. That nothing can defeat us. That is where they are strongly mistaken. If you look through history you will find that most first world countries last for about 200 years before they fall.I could write three to four pages about this. What most ignore and fail to recognize boils down to one topic in this day and age. It is written in Quran and the faith of the Islamic people that their soul purpose in life is to take over and conquer the entire world. They are doing just that as you read these words. The only thing that has stood in their way of accomplishing this before now is one country, ...the United States. I will tell you all a little secret of why their chances are better now than ever. Because one of them holds the position in the White House as your leader. Please log in to respond to this comment.I disagree Matt, I like ObamaPlease log in to respond to this comment. This comment highlights my point exactly David, as long as they can keep us beating each other up for our religion, sexual preferences, or whatever, we have no time to focus on the real problem of the corporate takeover of America, not to mention the world. Birds of a feather, flock together. Please log in to respond to this comment. You make a good point here David, thank you. Please log in to respond to this comment.Racist, religiously bigoted. Hey Dave, welcome to the fray! As we flush out the hate radio bunch, we can get a clearer picture of what they are about, and it's not about America, it's about hatred. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Interesting take on capitalism! I'm quite sure everyone doesnt agree with you! Please log in to respond to this comment.Oh yes, not everyone does agree with me that's what makes this country great we all have a mind of our own. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Another great one, Dave, and I couldn't agree with you more.I think the only reason this is controversial at all is because some people are afraid to question things. Sure there are evils of Capitalism. Just like there are evils of Socialism, Communism, Church, health food and Ford pickup trucks. To me, the real problem is when people are so dogmatic that everything has to be all good or all evil. This makes them oblivious to the problems of what they consider good, and unaware of the benefits of what they consider bad. Some people, like you, get wiser as they get older. Some people just get set in their ways. I want to be like you, Dave! Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you Bruce, yes I am constantly learning every day. Some of my beliefs change when I am shown where I'm wrong and some of my beliefs will never change for they were proven to be right. Please log in to respond to this comment.

Interesting article David... I find "Freedom" an interesting concept... we like to think we are until we try and practice it.Please log in to respond to this comment.Yes Craig, our freedoms are limited thanks for commentingPlease log in to respond to this comment.
The one thing I don't agree about capitalism is as you point, how two big types of people are found: poor and the richest. Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for your commentPlease log in to respond to this comment.
Great article, David. I must admit my idea of capitalism was tainted. Again, great article. Please log in to respond to this comment. Thanks for reading my article KenPlease log in to respond to this comment.
I don't believe we are more refined, I feel we have gone in the opposite direction as a country. I see us more and more dependent upon government to take care of us and that will only make us weaker. I believe we must be dependent upon God and help each other in order to become a strong nation again. Please log in to respond to this comment.Yes Linda, you make some good points here, but I do believe we as a people are not as bad as we were 40+ years ago. Please log in to respond to this comment.
I am going to give you all high marks because your writing was good and the content was interesting, though ask yourself a few things:We'll assume that America is the most capitalistic nation in the world (no stats, just assumption)- we invented the internet, the train, the plane, the car, the computer - this is what capitalism gives usPlease log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for commenting Ken, but I don't believe capitalism was the motivation behind these inventions. Please log in to respond to this comment.
