Freedom is To Serve

" I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve." Albert Schweitzer
I personally believe freedom is to serve however; we have many ways of serving our fellow man. If we are in politics, we serve the people we represent. If we are doctors, we serve our patients. Police officers serve the community, schoolteachers serve their students, those in the military serve their country, a waiter or waitress in a restaurant serves the people at tables that have come to dine. Those who prepare the food ordered by the patrons also serve, and the list goes on and on.
Serving takes a very humane characteristic we serve because we love, and because we love, we find serving pleasurable. No matter what kind of work we do, we are contributing ourselves (our labor or talent) to the aid of others.
"Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." Albert Einstein
I believe this is what the Lord had in mind when he said "Love thy neighbor as thyself" yes the world would be a much better place to live in if we all contributed ourselves to the aid of others.
Those who choose the life of only doing what pleases them are living as prisoners confined to themselves. They are missing out on the true satisfaction and pleasure in serving.
"Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love." Martin Luther King Jr.

Very well done. Those who have never served in any capacity are those who feel that sense of entitlement which degrades everything around them. In retail, especially in the pharmacy business, we have to put the customer (or patient) first. We do this not because we have to, necessarily, but because it is the right thing to do.Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for commenting Mike, yes because it is the right thing to do. Your patient is your responsibility. Please log in to respond to this comment.
