Love VS. Old Age

"Age does not protect you from love, but love to some extent protects you from age" Jeannie Moreau
At 60 years old I do not look at myself as an old person in fact the older I get the better I feel. For with age comes wisdom and maturity as I look back at my youth all of the stages I went through all part of growing up. There were times in my youth when I contemplated suicide of course I would never attempt suicide today.
As children, we possess a lot of vision i.e. we can see the world with all of its flaws. Trying to tame the world is a mission we as young people indoctrinate ourselves into believing. As we grow older wisdom comes naturally we can confront our foe more realistically.
Only when we reach adulthood we tend to use violence to establish our ideas and our ideals. True when we use violence to accomplish our goals we can never become victorious in our quest. To win a war only means we have over powered our enemy we didn't convert them into our way of thinking or reasoning.
If we could combine, our feelings i.e. let wisdom and love work harmoniously then we could reach our goals more easily. True maturity comes through peace not violence we must be able to interact with love and understanding with those we have disagreements with.
As long as we are young in spirit it doesn't matter how old our body gets as long as our heart speaks through us with love we master our domain.

"To win a war only means we have over powered our enemy we didn't convert them into our way of thinking or reasoning."The whole might makes right mentality --- and usually a by-product of fear in the absence of love. Thanks for this valuable and eloquent read David. I was in agreement with the statement that I referenced from your writing. It appears that in the minds of many that to win a war automatically means you must have been justified in your beliefs; that superior military might means superior values and beliefs; and that this trust in violence is usually a by-product of fear in the absence of love. I hope I helped to clear up any misunderstanding. In short ... I loved your piece. Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you Edward, for making your comment clear.
