We Are the Change That We Seek

" Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." Barack Obama
This quote by President Obama has a very wise message behind it. Most of us are waiting for someone to come into our lives and change things all around us.
This is where the Lord presided over us all, we were all nave of our actions and feelings just doing and never really knowing why. The fact is we discovered ourselves for the first time in our lives. All of our mischievous ways were telling us why we were acting as we were.
Our Lord was guiding us along the troubled road we all traveled. In the early 70s, the world was moving at a very fast pace. In fact, the peace we all were seeking came about so fast we were led astray from the real world. We were foolish to let the peace we fought so hard to obtain just fade from our consciences.
" I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is they must change if they are to get better." Georg C. Lichtenberg
It is for us the generation who sparked the revolution we fought without sacrificing any lives for our cause come forth today with an open mind and a much wiser attitude towards life. We must all (young and old, rich and poor, black and white) come together as the united people we all claim to be and set an example for all the world too see.
Change is the law of life as we grow and develop change is inevitable we must adapt to changes in our lives. Those who distance themselves from the mere thought of change are escaping the reality of our times.
" It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." Charles Darwin

You can also see change on the way because of the uproar.God is not initiated in deliberation, only in manifestation. His own is self-revelation (Laconic, Dr. Clarence Rucker, Jr. CCJP ICCS.)Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for commenting Clarence, yes I believe we are the changePlease log in to respond to this comment.
Change is the only constant in the universe. Things will change, life will change no matter if we do nothing to make it happen. Who is "we"? All of us have different views on what should change and how. The only people who wait for change are those who need to be told what to do and how by a higher authority. People should be their own authority and not wait for a leader or higher power to convince them of change or how to change. The word "change " has become a meaningless bandwagon it seems. These are simply my thoughts...and thank you for yours. Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for commenting yes change is a law of life. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Very well-said. Change is inevitable, and we are the change we need. We all need to look at ourselves and decide if we are up to the task. Great article. Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for commenting Mike, I don't know how old you are but do you remember the 60s? change was on the minds of most people back then. Please log in to respond to this comment.
I remember the 60's, David, and there was a lot of violence as well. Many of the "Peace and Love" crowd spit on soldiers returning from Viet Nam.Change for the sake of change is dangerous. Barack Obama is not the answer. 9 trillion dollars in debt is not the answer. Of course, "No child left behind" has left behind children who passed their grade but cannot read properly.I'm sorry, David, I don't mean to step on your enthusiasm. But when I see pictures of people worshiping a politician- any politician- I get sick to my stomach. Please log in to respond to this comment.Well Ken,I served in Vietnam but when I got out of the service in '69 I had a lot of respect for these young people who were searching for change. I believe things have changed a lot over the past 40 years. I don't worship any mortal being But I also respect those who try to do good. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Thanks for this well written and thoughtful piece. We quote politicians all the time in our history and we seem to have no problem with it. From FDR"s, "we have nothing to fear, but fear itself;" Truman's: if you cant' stand the heat, get out of the kitchen;" Reagan's: "Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall." But the minute this president says something, in my opinion, inspirational and we quote it, then it's hero-worship or idolatry. There is this moral double-standard (and dare I say moral inconsistency) on the part of some in their judgment of President Obama. I didn't intend to "vent" in this fashion especially after you called for us to truly be the "e pluribus unum" so eloquently stamped on our currency. Thanks for this good read David. Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you Edward,"e pluribus unum" meaning out of many one. WE are all one people united under God.Please log in to respond to this comment.
hi david,i wonder where and when we as a people began to think that others that were different from us, were somehow, the devil in disguise.we adults change as we grow, since if 10 babies are put into a circle, all of different races and creeds, they will think nothing of it. they will take a toy from another because they want the toy, not because the other baby is black or asian or any other nationality. we could learn a lot from the innocence of these precious beings.i liked this article. it is a true test to what we should aspire to, and drop all the nonsence of jealousy and fear of those who are different than us.thanks for sharing this,my best, suePlease log in to respond to this comment.True Susan, we are all equal biologically. Our personality is derived from ignorant sources. Peer pressure is how most young people develop prejudices and what have you. Most of them are afraid to be themselves, thanks for commenting. Please log in to respond to this comment.
