I Don't Know, I Just Don't Know

"Most of the trouble in the world is caused by people wanting t
o be important" T.S. Eliot
Watching the news with topics such as health care reform and violence going on in our streets not to mention the wars we are engaged in. Life can be depressing when we are concerned about world affairs but just don't have the answers.
Certainly, our political leaders are supposedly in office to serve the people however, to please all the people can be an impossible task. For we the people differ in all aspects of life nevertheless we can all agree on one fact that we are all Americans and more importantly all human beings.
When Einstein was asked, what he believed was the cause of all the chaos in society. He said he believed it was (all the corruption) something in a person's ego. One needs not be a genius to see how we as a people have inflated egos.
Trying to put ourselves above the norm of everyday living, we choose to put ourselves on top of the hierarchy of life. What drives some people to want to be on the top?
"Too many people grow up. That's the real trouble with the world too many people grow up. They forget. They don't remember what it's like to be 12 years old. They patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Well I won't do that.
Walt Disney
Walt Disney
Wald Disney's quote above may have some truth to it however; we are as a people expected to mature as responsible adults.
Whatever one's belief or philosophy of life may be we cannot solve our problems alone nor can we rely on God to solve them for us. We must work together as the united people we are suppose to be.
Whatever there is of God and goodness in the universe, it must work itself out and express itself through us. We cannot stand aside and let God do it." Albert Einstein

A human being is part of a whole,
called by us the Universe,
a part limited in time and space.
called by us the Universe,
a part limited in time and space.
He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings,
as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical
as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical
delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us,
restricting us to our personal desires
and to affection for a few persons nearest us.
Our task must be
to free ourselves from this prison
by widening our circles of compassion
to embrace all living creatures
and the whole of nature in its beauty.

by widening our circles of compassion
to embrace all living creatures
and the whole of nature in its beauty.

Top-level comments on this article: (8 total)David, I was contemplating writing another article about our need for love. I like the tone of this article and agree with you. The bible tells says, when I was a child, I thought, spoke and understood as a child but when I became a man, I put away childish things. That's what Paul said at Corinth. I may not have quoted it verbatim.
We can do away with childishness but like Walt Disney said, we can also refuse to grow up and still see the world through the eyes of a child. Too many grow up and become old. With being old, they have a calloused heart and scales over their eyes. How can love penetrate that unless it is God-sent?
Thank you for this article. I don't know, I just don't know either but no matter who is in office, I always support them. I may not agree with everything but supporting them in prayer that they are guided to do the right thing is better than putting them done for four years or longer if they're fortunate enough to serve two terms. Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for commenting Avis, you add a new light on the situationPlease log in to respond to this comment.
David, this is a beautiful article. Walt Disney was right. However, I know he had the Bible in mind when it says: "We must come as little children" (Matt. 18: 3). This is beautifulPlease log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for commenting Clarence, I believe Jesus said "forbid them not to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven"Please log in to respond to this comment.
David, I re-read and had to add, I love your words that, "We cannot wait for God." You are so correct, as you say, "He works through us." Other words, it is God in man working through man to get to man. I am sure I will print this and read it again. You are saying something. Please log in to respond to this comment.

hi david, this was an excellent article, that made me think. i also believe that we as a people, 6 Billion!, are intelligent enough to figure out how to live together peacefully.love of money is the root of all evil, and i believe that has a lot to do with the current state of affairs, or any state of affairs, thanks for sharing,my best to you, suePlease log in to respond to this comment.
David, you have become quite a writer, capturing readers with everything you put onto paper. Yes and this is a beautiful article filled with brillient men and concepts who speak of love. Yes love David but and that but is reality, like it or not, for the masses or most, the majority, love is a word only. Yes, quote scripture, beautiful poetry, idealistic speeches all wonderful hopes. Love is the answer that will only come at the hand of God. Man, regardless of all their intellect and so called intelligence is for the very large part, unable to understand and accpt the true meaning of the word. Yes a minority of course but for the majority, sorry, no. Christians understand this explicitly becuase their God tells them that. Do we need to continue working toward that caertainly but realize that is a dream we hope to see fulfilled on Him. A really great job as usual. Please log in to respond to this comment.

Another great article. Disney was right about how adults forget to be children, or rather forget how to be childlike. These days even the kids seem in such a hurry to grow up, it's almost as though they want their life to get over with. Well done. Please log in to respond to this comment.
