Unity In The World

CAIRO, June 6 (Reuters) - A leader of an Islamist group that wa
ged an insurgency in Egypt in the 1990s called on Saturday for al Qaeda and the Taliban to consider an opening offered by the US president and call a halt to attacks on US civilians.
When I read headlines like the one above, it gives me a good feeling inside. Yes, even while watching the news on television sometimes they speak of constructive and positive happenings around the world.
Of course, we must take the bad along with the good it seems as though there is more bad news than good.
I believe most of the unrest in our youth is mainly due to conditions around the world. I believe doctors of psychology would find far less mental illness in not only the young but in people of all ages if there was less hatred for our neighbors and in those we do not understand more openness.
We as a people are always asking the question why, our politicians and military leaders seem to have all the answers as to why we must fight and kill those who disagree with us. Although I do not believe, there is an honest answer to condone our behavior.
When was the last time we've looked at our calendar? We are now living in the 21st. Century. Some still are awaiting the second coming of Christ, however I believe if we want to live in a better world we must make ourselves better and not so self righteous.
For our own country has many faults in itself we must work to better the homeland and give other nations a reason to respect us as a united people.
