Mr. President Get Your Priorities Straight

Many people are struggling through difficult times some have lost their jobs and have families to support. Other small businessmen and women are finding it hard to maintain their business with the problems that confront them.
Our new president has his hands full it isn't an easy job leading the nation with the deficit; he inherited from the previous administration. I am not a man of instant wisdom however I see no sense in engaging in war. What are we supposedly fighting, a war on terror trying to stop terrorist from harming us either abroad or at home?
Using force to control a people is wrong we must get to the root of the problem. I alone just watching television commercials makes me irritated and some of the movies they come out with on television I swear are evil. Perhaps that's why the Islamic people call us the great Satan.
Don't get me wrong I am a true blue American and I love my country and the people it represents. However, there are those whom control our way of life to benefit their own well-being.
I listened to Obama's first press conference he talked about his stimulus program. Nonetheless, he also spoke of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. We cannot improve our economy and fight in war at the same time. I say to Obama "Mr. President get your priorities straight first tackle the conflict we are engaged in at present."
I sincerely believe diplomacy can work if we stop throwing our weight around and threatening those who don't see things our way. In our own country, we need to use bipartisanship our political parties must come together. How are we expected to bring peace to other nations if we cannot establish it right here at home?
I say let's get together and solve our problems if we can eliminate war on this planet of ours than everything else will just fall into place naturally.

Our biggest problem is right here in our own country. The President walked into a giant mess and he has to start somewhere. I think his heart is in the right place by his suggestion of creating new jobs for the growing number of people that are unemployed. It does disturb me that we will have to "borrow" money to jump start this program. Too bad he can't force companies that have spent the borrowed money inappropriately and force them to pay us back with interest. How about all the countries we have bailed out over the years, when will they pay us back? I think that the President is trying as hard as he can to jump start our economy.Iris S TaubParkland, FloridaPlease log in to respond to this comment.Yes I realize this Iris, but look at the money it cost to be engaged in war. If we could eliminate war like I say everything else will come more easily. thank you for commentingPlease log in to respond to this comment. You can thank Bush for that mess!Believe me I am sure that if Obama could get all the troops out now he would!Iris TaubParkland, FloridaPlease log in to respond to this comment.
I'm with you, David. Bush made a lot of mistakes but President Obama is doing the same thing, only in a different rapperPlease log in to respond to this comment.I disagree, I believe Obama is doing a lot better than Bush, thank you for commenting. Please log in to respond to this comment.
David, I understand your desire for wanting the troops home, the war ended. So do I. I am clueless but it just can not be as simple as a President declaring the war is over; all troops, pack up your weaponry, gear and personal GI belongings, you're going home! Or can it? It has to take time, yes? I believe each one of us with a passion for our cause feels that should be the President's priority. Are we right? Are we wrong? The President is the one in charge calling the shots, or is he really? We'll just have to be patient to see how all unfolds. Of course, ultimately, you know I believe God is in charge and nothing or no one overrides what He decrees.
This was interesting to read, David. I feel your passion as a veteran. Happy "love" day to you. You are loved!
Your friend,
AvisPlease log in to respond to this comment.I agree that God is in charge Avis, however I doubt that he is the one who is calling the shots here. I hope that our president does the right thing, I still believe we can talk to our enemy and bring about a solution. Please log in to respond to this comment.
hi david,i believe in every word you said, only you said it far better than i could.of course, you know i would like the right people to get together and end this war before my son is in the thick of it.even if he were in combat and didn't, thankfully, get hurt, his mind would never be the same which would interfere with his daily life, that's just his personality.i have every hope that we are reaching a better, not worse, government, and i truly believe we are, time will tell, but i'm optimistic, thanks for a very well written, interesting article,my best, suePlease log in to respond to this comment.Yes Susan, I believe "we" as the human race will outgrow war and find mutual understanding with each other as human beings. thanks for commentingPlease log in to respond to this comment.
