We All Follow To The Beat of The Drum (poem)

by

A man shot down in his prime

From the mountain he chose to climb

He said I have been there and I've seen the other side

Is this why the man who searched for equality died?

He said I have seen all of God's children freed

This vision he seen was all part of his creed

Evil strikes on those who try to do good

This he knew and very well understood

Martin Luther King Jr. was his name

He took the blame and won the fame

His goal lives on in all who dream

We are all brought together as a team

We will prevail in our quest for peace and justice

For love rules - over hate and injustice

Mr. King is resting in peace as we speak

But his words cry out to all those who seek

A better world for generations to come

We all follow to the beat of the drum

A lot is to be said about a man who persisted through adversity and whose legacy lives on. Thanks for the reminder.

It is tragic that such a peaceful man was struck down.  Unfortunately, prejudice is a disease that causes so much violence in society.  It seems that instead of being judged by our ideals and priciples, we are judged by the color of our skin and the religion we practice.    To some it is a threat, to others just something that is taught and pass down from generation to generation.  It is important to remember people who made a difference and hopefully we are a more tolerant generation who looks pass the color and religious beliefs and truly listens to words of wisdom.
