United We Stand Divided We Fall

Well the year 2008 is almost over what will the year 2009 bring us. For one thing, a new president with many new ideas, I believe in Obama I just hope he brings us the change we all so desperately need.
I know he will do his best to bring us back (the nation) on our feet. Not only in domestic policies but also in foreign affairs I do hope he puts an end to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Yes, we as Americans have been in difficult situations before during the great depression President Roosevelt help pull us out of those desperate times. By uniting us (we as Americans) with a common goal to work for a better day for not only ourselves but also for future generations
During the 60s, we were undergoing another setback we had the Vietnam War and a lot of unrest among our youth. The 60s were filled with turbulence and despair however; President Nixon helped us overcome those days as well.
Today we are living in a new millennium one would think after being exposed to and experiencing the troubles, we have faced in the past we would learn from them and work to overcome those problems and not letting them prolong into the future.
The answer has always been so simple in fact every year about this time we sing songs of peace and love why can't the Christmas spirit last throughout the year and not only through the holidays we celebrate once a year. Let us truly bring a new year into focus and establish it here on earth.

If we look into the future with a bold new concept, we meet with a vast and challenging ideology. Let us bring our dreams into a reality.
"There is nothing like a dream to create the future." Victor Hugo
Let us dare to dream for anything is possible providing we put our hearts, minds and souls into it. To dream the impossible dream and then make that dream possible. I don't want to sound too cynical when referring to the men and women whom we entrust our way of living to. However many of our elected officials are corrupt. We must put an end to the corruption in politics and business.
America belongs to all of us rich and poor alike we needn't set boundaries separating us into different classes. For UNITED we stand and DIVIDED we fall.

Well written David, and well said. I do agree that we are in for a huge change, and I too, along with you agree that Obama will do his best to get us back on our feet. I am a Vietnam Vet, and was there in the 60's, and know what unrest that unpopular conflict caused. I am with you, and hope you, and everone has a great New Year. God Bless. Your friend in Pen.....Gary Halsey Sr.Please log in to respond to this comment.Thank you Gary, I am also a Vietnam vet. When I came home from there in '69 the country was in bad shape. It wasn't only the war the young were rebelling against it was our way of life. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Excellent Dave! I couldn't have said it better. Mark and the kids and I have all been talking on the same topics. One of the kids is studying the great depression as we speak.I too feel that each day we should remember the Christ in Christmas and allow the spirit to lead. Maybe then we could experience the peace we yearn for.God bless you my friend. My cast is off and I am trying to get back in touch. Miss all of youPlease log in to respond to this comment.Thank you for commenting Michelle, I'm glad that you're all better now. take carePlease log in to respond to this comment.
