Philosophy: Trying To Make Sense Of It All

There have been philosophers since the beginning of time. Although as a population of people in society are engaged in the reality of the times i.e. what they can see, feel, participate in the now, things as they are.

Philosophers are those thinkers who try to explain or unravel the mysteries of life. They try to make sense of reality in its many diverse forms.

To give an exhaustive list of the main branches of philosophy is difficult, because there have been different, equally acceptable divisions at different times, and the divisions are often relative to the concerns of a particular period. However, the following branches are usually accepted as the main ones.

"Metaphysics"

"Epistemology"

"Ethics"

"Logic"

Other topics include politics aesthetics, and the philosophy of religion. In addition, most academic subjects have a philosophy, for example the philosophy of science, the philosophy of mathematics, and the philosophy of history.

In ancient philosophy some well-known philosophers such as Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, were the pioneers of philosophy so to speak

Early modern philosophy

Important figures include Montaigne, Descartes, Francis Bacon, Locke, Spinoza, Leibniz, Berkeley, Humm, and Kant, Chronologically, this era spans the 17th and 18th centuries, and is generally considered to end with Kant's systematic attempt to reconcile Newtonian physics with traditional metaphysical topics.

The modern philosophers

Later modern philosophy (1800 1960)

Later modern philosophy is usually considered to begin after the philosophy of Immanuel Kant at the beginning of the 19th-century ''Central Works of Philosophy", The Nineteenth Century German idealists, such as Fichte, Hegel, and Shelling, expanded on the work of Kant by maintaining that the world is constituted by a rational mind-like process, and as such is entirely knowable.

Rejecting idealism, other philosophers, many working from outside the university, initiated lines of thought that would occupy academic philosophy in the early and mid-20th century:

Ever since I was a child trying to unravel or simply trying to make sense of the world and our universe was an obsession with me. I suppose some of us have a natural sense in trying to unlock the mysteries of the unknown.

Of course, some people consider philosophy as an impractical subject to become involved with. For in our fast-paced world it seems most people are too busy coping with reality as it is rather than trying to make sense of it all.

As children, everything is new to them so the questions coming from small babes can be quite baffling to parents or grown-ups at times. The old expression " out of the mouthes of babes" yes trying to answer the questions coming from inquisitive children can put parents on the spot many times.
