The Dream Lives (poem)

by

He made it very clear - he said "I have a dream"

That my little children may walk in freedom

Let their laughter and joy sparkle and gleam

As the Lord looks down from his heavenly kingdom

He said let all men be judged by the content

of their character

And truly not by the color of their skin

Let us put an end to the racial barrier

Look deep inside and find the love within

His message rings loud from the church bell tower

Let us pause and pay tribute to this fallen giant

He spoke of peace in his speeches until his final hour

A man of God he was - and quite compliant

Although his soul is at rest with the Lord

His dream lives in all whom seek peace

Let us join him in his journey let's all climb aboard

Put an end to all prejudice and let the fighting cease
