 Freedom! Is to serve

Why must we resort to war when we meet resistance?

Does war give us that much greater assistance?

Our politicians will use the word evil when they speak of our foe

But our foe prays to God - they like us - yearn for a desire to know

We are told we must fight for our country, and keep it strong.

Let’s face it; we all have our own sense of right and wrong

Freedom is only a word used by tedious politicians

To Americans freedom has always brought about a coalition

Certainly, politicians are free - with their positions, wealth, and fame

To them freedom is personal - a whole new ballgame

I believe I speak for all of humankind when I say" freedom is to serve"

To serve requires love,- this is what must be preserved.

E nlighten us and show us the way

N o way, - are we to be led astray

E choes from the cries of yesterday’s heroes

M en who played the part of lonely desperadoes

Y oung are in search for a world united by love

“Love your ENEMY were the words spoken from the

One up above"

David, What an insightful poem and how true! Thanks for this moment of rationality. David, how do you put your hot link of your name etc. on these responses. I am a computer goof, not geek. Thanks again.
